While traditional wedding photos are special and oh-so-important, fun & candid shots can make anyone’s photos really stand out from the crowd. We put our creativity and skills in your wedding photos to make that special day even more memorable. We are two artists who sell their work separately to art collectors, put but as much effort into the work of a weeding day as we do with any other image in our portfolio.
Unobtrusive. This is the word that we like to use whenever anyone asks us to describe our approach to photographing a wedding. At the same time we are fun and sociable, and undermix with guests and family. We like to be part of it to capture real moments and real emotions and people love us being there. We get a real buzz when we are amongst the wedding party, but not seen. We just love it!
For us a wedding is a once-in-a-lifetime event that should be photographed quietly, sympathetically, and without the photographer dictating what happens in front of them. As soon as a photographer directs or controls the event, the wedding becomes the photographer’s idea of what the wedding should look like rather than what it actually is. We prefer to capture it in such a way as to produce images which are honest and truthful out of the respect of the day, and can be enjoyed for generations to come.
A TYPICAL WEDDING DAY
On a typical wedding day one of us will start with the bridal preparations and her family getting ready, until she arrives at the ceremony greeting the guests. The other sometimes covers the groom and his groomsmen, at home, in a bar or wherever they are. We photograph the ceremony together but never from the same spot, and always, always discretely. After the ceremony one of us will look for those moments which involve the bridal party and close family while the other concentrates on the relationships between the guests.
Our style is very much in the photo-journalism / reportage style of photography. We still take the traditional style shots, such as signing the register, group-shots, etc. and it’s always nice to go and find a lovely spot in the venue or other location to photograph the bride & groom. We always cover each wedding together but this doesn’t mean we stand in the same place and shoot the same things from a slightly different angle! We prefer to work individually on the same wedding, seeking out our own pictures and providing our clients with two different perspectives. Martina’s images bring together geometry and rhythm, light and composition while Carina’s fascination with people is reflected in her multi-layered compositions, often containing humour and a reportage/documentary style.
Our portfolios show the strength and depth of our approach. Our pictures sit harmoniously together both in terms of style and artistry, and while having two photographers isn’t unique in today’s wedding marketplace, we believe the quality and consistency of our work sets us apart from everyone else. Together we offer a wonderfully rounded and authentic coverage of the wedding day providing pictures which are not only be pleasing to the eye, but have content which evokes an emotional response from the viewer.
